Day three round-up

The beginning of day three started with the delegates dissecting the Euro CanTech Awards from the night before.

The conference began with keynote speaker, Dr Ulrich Roeske, president of ThyssenKrupp Rasselstein. As usual, Dr Ulrich was one of the highlights of the conference and conducted his presentation on sustainability in his usual engaging manner. As well as a quiz for the audience, there was some fascinating insight into the choices the industry needs to make for future prosperity.

The other highlights of the session included Tata Steel presenting their new laminated steel offerings for the can making industry, Florence Beliard on PPG’s new Hoba Purair coating for aluminium cans, and Atit Bhatia rounding things up with a unique perspective on the Asian can making market. With India predicted to be the world’s third largest GDP by 2020, Atit’s analysis of the state of the Indian can making industry was an enlightening one.

This year’s Euro CanTech concluded with lunch and the final chance for can makers to visit the tabletop exhibition.

It’s time to turn our attention to Asia CanTech: www.asia-can.com. Thank you to all those who exhibited and attended Euro CanTech this year. Asia CanTech returns on 7-9 November at the Hilton hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
