Stuart becomes independent director

The boards of the London Metal Exchange (LME) and LME Clear have announced the appointment of Antony Stuart as an independent non-executive director.

Stuart is a chartered accountant with 30 years experience as an investment banker and corporate adviser. Before his retirement in 2011, he was managing director at NM Rothschild.

“We’re delighted to welcome Mr Stuart to the LME and LME Clear Boards. His commercial expertise will be extremely valuable in building and strengthening the business of the two companies,” commented Sir Brian Bender, chairman of the LME.

He replaces Nat le Roux, who has resigned as an independent director of both boards.

Richard Thornhill, chairman of LME Clear, explained: “Mr le Roux’s contributions have been particularly valuable during the LME’s commercialisation process and in the creation of the new clearing house. We wish him well.”
