Kian Joo to present at Asia CanTech

Following the success of this year’s Euro CanTech (www.euro-cantech.com) where keynote speakers included Ball Europe’s president Colin Gillis and Atit Bhatia, senior vice president at Hindustan Tin Works, expectations for Asia CanTech are high.

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Ooi Teik Huat, Kian Joo’s group chief financial officer, has agreed to be the first keynote speaker at this year’s Asia CanTech which takes place on 7-9 November 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

An accountant by profession, Ooi worked for KPMG for eight years and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Since leaving KPMG, he was also involved in his own consulting practice after leaving KPMG.

Ooi’s first taste of canning came when he joined Aik Joo Can Factory Sdn Bhd – a can maker in Malaysia in 1995, as an accountant. Initially tasked with finance and accounting functions, he was part of the team who assisted in the floatation exercise of Can-One Berhad, the holding company of Aik Joo in 2005. Between 2009-2012, he was involved in a corporate exercise involving the acquisition of 32.9% equity interest in Kian Joo Can Factory Berhad by Can-One. In July 2012, in conjunction with the acquisition, he was transferred to Kian Joo Group as its group chief financial officer.

“I am delighted to be able to announce our first keynote speaker,” said Asia CanTech events manager, Megan Freeman. “With Ooi’s vast experience of the finance sector in Asia and Kian Joo’s respected status within the industry, it’s a real coup for us and we look forward to making a number of other announcements regarding the show very shortly.”
