Q: What’s your background?

I worked in the ink industry for several years and at another printing press manufacturer before I took over the responsibility for KBA-MetalPrint. I started as an offset printer and then later studied printing technology at the University of Wuppertal in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Q: What’s the background of KBA?

KBA-MetalPrint, a member of the KBA-group, is the technological leader in metal decorating. We have over 100 years of competence, based on the know-how of the renowned Mailänder, LTG and Bauer + Kunzi companies. One of the essential core competencies of the KBA group is the use and transfer of our leading technology from individual areas into other businesses of KBA.

Thus KBA MetalPrint has access to the best solutions in different areas of the printing industry and can make it available to our customers in the metal decorating industry.

We belong to the KBA Group, who is the second-largest press manufacturer worldwide, with more than 6,000 people and the broadest product range in the industry. We are a key supplier to the global media industry and are well known for solutions in offset, flexo, gravure and silk screen. We use these technologies for metal decorating, flexible packaging, folding carton, commercial sheet and web fed, newspaper, security printing, coding devices, air purification and a lot of other products.  KBA’s core competence is the development and manufacture of technologically innovative yet cost-effective printing systems and peripherals.

Q: What are the main challenges you face on a day-to-day basis?

High customer satisfaction connected with the best product on the market – that is our goal. That is the challenge we set ourselves daily, and that we approach with our skills and our commitment.

Q: What do you think the future holds for metal decorating?

When I see the many outstanding products our customers have to offer I can only see a bright future for metal decorating. The competition with other packaging solutions will continue of course. However, the increasing environmental discussions will again open up new opportunities for the metal decorating business. I firmly believe that our industry will develop in a positive way.

Q: Where do you see KBA in five years time?

In the next few years our industry will evolve much further technologically. Environmental awareness and the pressure of high-energy costs will increasingly lead to modern energy-saving solutions. These solutions already exist in our product range. For example, multi-colour machines need a fast set-up time. Here, KBA MetalPrint is steps ahead in the metal decorating industry.

Q: When you’re not heading up KBA, how do you like to unwind?

Thank you for asking but printing is my passion and so two worlds come together. Other hobbies besides my profession are certainly skiing, golf and especially my family.
