Students share in recognition for Ardagh’s Fondü package

An all-in-one Fondü bowl produced by Ardagh for Emmi has won a WorldStar Award, recognising the best world packaging in 2016.

The judging panel, who met in Vienna to consider the 292 eligible packaging projects from 35 countries, were particularly impressed by the collaborative way the original package was developed. Ardagh’s dedicated R&D centre worked closely with students on the packaging design course at the University of Twente in The Netherlands, and international marketing consultancy, The Foodatelier.

“We are very proud of this WorldStar Award as recognition of a commercially successful development that started as a brief for students to create a futuristic ready to heat premium metal packaging concept,” said Woep Möller, CEO of Ardagh’s metal food and speciality division in Europe.

“Above all else it shows how important top quality packaging courses are to our industry, and the value that we as manufacturers, designers and marketing innovators can give when we involve universities in real projects,” he added.

The microwaveable shaped bowl is proving very popular in Europe and North America having gained a number of design and packaging awards for its convenience, design flair and functionality.
