Wrapping things up

My friends are sometimes envious when I announce to them that I’m on my travels yet again – indeed it is a privilege visiting some of the places those of us in the can business get to see.

However, what my friends don’t get to see is the less glamorous aspect; writing this blog at 4am at a deserted Heathrow Airport being the prime example. It’s certainly a different experience being up at 2.30am with no alcohol in the system; I didn’t know such a time existed!

This trip involves a visit to Barcelona to see Sandvik and the official opening of their new research and development centre. I’ll be sure to bring you the latest from the trip in my blog next week.

Elsewhere, it’s been great to be able to contribute to Metro.co.uk recently on the craft soda boom we are seeing. Within this, it was a great opportunity to promote the sustainability merits of metal packaging to a consumer audience. Click here to read the article.

With over a quarter of millennials now abstaining from alcohol, it’s no surprise to see this market flourishing, much like the craft beer sector. It’s something that is becoming more and more mainstream, particularly if my local supermarket is anything to go by. With the festive season about to enter full swing, choice has to be a real positive for this marketplace.

Our last issue of the year goes to press in the next few days, so it’s not quite time to dust off the Christmas jumper just yet. Within this issue, we have the remaining round-up of Asia CanTech, which includes the news of a return to Bangkok due to popular demand in 2018.

Until next time…
