Happy New Year

I hope you all enjoyed the festive period and are ready and raring to go for the year ahead!

No? I thought not… Well to clear your head of all the end of year excess, the latest issue of CanTech should have just about hit your desks by now. Inside is our yearly wall planner, to help you get your diary up to speed for 2018.

Over here in the UK, the previous few week’s headlines have been dominated by the news that the Chinese government have imposed a new ban on import waste, which means that China will no longer accept a range of different plastics, textiles and paper imports. This will pose an interesting conundrum for government councils here in the UK, about whether they will continue to accept a variety of different forms of plastic in its recycling round. Let’s hope this paves the way for more support for our industry and the merits of the metal package.

Either way, we’ve seen an increased amount of coverage from the tabloid newspapers against plastic packaging and that has to be a positive for us. I’ll be keeping an eye on these domestic developments closely in the next few months.

Elsewhere, the team will shortly be preparing for a trip to the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum in Paris at the end of the month. For those of you within the aerosol trade who would like to speak with me regarding any editorial enquiries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Until next time…
