Cannex so far

This week has signalled the start of a couple of week’s worth of work travel, with the beginning of Cannex trade show in Guangzhou, China.

You’ll be able to read a comprehensive review of the show in our July/August issue, but I’ll run you through a few brief set of observations so far:

•The millennial generation have taken a bashing this week, with the news that Fray Bentos is having to restructure their iconic pie, as the can is deemed to be too hard to open for today’s consumer. I was more miffed about having to explain to some that Fray Bentos was a pie and not a person! It must be an English thing…

•StraightLine Drive has formally launched its S-Drive. We were first to break this story back in March, so please take a look at our feature with inventor Don Haulsee.

•There has been a mixed reception to KBA MetalPrint’s new rebrand. With new branding ‘Koenig and Bauer’, dominating, it’s perhaps a little confusing to potential customers unfamiliar with the brand.

•Hindustan Tin Works will celebrate it’s 60-year anniversary later this year. We’ll be covering more on this later.

•INX formally launch its Colour Perfection, with its colour catalogue that features director to metal digital proofing. With its digitalised colour library with over 600 colours, the software allows for direct to can digital proofing with the INX CP800.

I’ll be rounding up more on this show later this week.
