Gordon Shade (pictured right), the chief executive officer of the European Metal Packaging Association (Empac), has agreed to join CanTech International’s editorial board.
Empac is an organisation that brings together producers of rigid metal packaging and their national associations to defend the interests and promote the benefits of metal packaging throughout Europe. Shade has been CEO of Empac since mid-2008.
He has held senior managerial positions in the packaging industry with Carnaud MetalBox, Lawson Mardon, Alusuisse, Impress and Ardagh Group, which includes sales, general management, external affairs and communications.
Empac is tasked with defending and promoting the rigid metal packaging industry in Europe by communicating on the sustainability and the many unique advantages of metal packaging. The organisation provides information and support to its members and regulatory bodies in the European Union. Empac also publicises best manufacturing practice and guidelines through technical committees comprising acknowledged experts in their field.
A Scottish Chartered Accountant by qualification, Shade spent over 10 years with Price Waterhouse in Madrid, The Hague, Paris and Milan.
He takes the place on the editorial board that was previously occupied by Sue Rogers. She recently retired from her position as director of the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association.
