Thank you very much
2014 has been an exciting year for the metal packaging industry. The rise in popularity of aluminium bottles, thermochromic inks and the trend towards personalisation are of particular note, as well as developments worldwide in terms of new can plant openings and investments in up and coming markets.
Most have seen steady growth, while others have struggled to make ends meet, but this is true of any business sector. There will always be rough with the smooth and the old adage of ‘make hay while the sun shines’ holds true for us all (with an eye on the long term at all times of course).
From our point of view we are very happy with what we have achieved this year. Personally, having joined the sector in January of this year, I have learned an awful lot in a very short space of time, due, for the most part, to the generosity you have all shown when it comes to being transparent and honest about what you are working on, who you are working with and where you see yourselves progressing going forward.
Without your willingness to show me the way it would have been much tougher to get to grips with this industry, and for that I thank you all most sincerely.
I have very much enjoyed meeting you at the various conferences and shows around the world, and our own Asia CanTech in Bangkok was a real success as a result of the industry’s thirst for knowledge and, again, willingness to share your ideas and experiences with a wider audience.
So, what will 2015 hold? As you will have seen from the latest front cover of CanTech, there is a question mark above the crystal ball. We can speculate as to where the market will head in the New Year, but I’m sure, as always, there will be a few surprises along the way.
We encourage you to keep us informed of your latest developments, contract wins and technological advances. We are here as humble servants to the metal packaging industry, reporting across the board as we do and hopefully providing an effective voice box for you all. Without your input we would not be able to achieve what we do.
So again, thank you all for your input in 2014. From all here at CanTech HQ we wish you a very Happy Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
See you in 2015!
