The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) has announced its first-ever ALFED Members Day, taking place on Thursday 30 April 2026 at the ALFED HQ, Bragborough Hall Business Centre, Daventry (UK). This landmark event will unite ALFED members for a day of insight, innovation, and networking, highlighting the latest trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the sector.
Mypower, the UK’s leading commercial solar panel installation company, will serve as headline sponsor, underscoring its commitment to supporting aluminium companies in achieving energy efficiency, sustainability and operational excellence. As the driving force behind this inaugural Members Day, Mypower’s involvement reinforces the event’s focus on practical, industry-leading solutions for energy and performance.
Speaking about the ALFED Members’ Day, Mypower’s business development director, Neil Stott, commented: “We’re proud to headline sponsor ALFED’s inaugural Members’ Day because the aluminium industry is strategically vital to UK manufacturing, yet it faces some of the highest industrial electricity costs in Europe. With grid power typically around 20p/kWh and increasing carbon accountability, doing nothing now has a cost. Energy strategy is central to competitiveness. With 16 years of experience delivering commercial rooftop solar for energy-intensive manufacturers and as a national award-winning installer, we see a clear opportunity for members to take greater control of their energy strategy. On-site solar can typically generate electricity at around 5p/kWh and supply 30-40% of annual demand. At Members’ Day, we look forward to open discussion – exploring adoption barriers and sharing real-world experience.”
The Members’ Day was created to bring the UK aluminium community together in a more informal, accessible and collaborative setting. Hosted at ALFED HQ in Northampton, the day has been designed in direct response to member feedback and focuses on meaningful conversation, practical insight and relationship-building rather than formal presentations or sales-led content. Members are welcome to attend for the full day or drop in around other commitments, making it easy to engage in a way that suits individual schedules.
The programme will feature facilitated roundtable discussions on key sector issues, short spotlight sessions showcasing member insight and case studies, and plenty of time for informal networking throughout the day. The ALFED Members’ Day is intended to strengthen connections across the aluminium value chain, increase member visibility, and create space for open discussion that feeds directly into ALFED’s advocacy, policy and sector development work. This first Members’ Day marks the launch of a new platform that will grow year-on-year, shaped by the needs and priorities of ALFED members.
Nadine Bloxsome, CEO of ALFED, commented: “The launch of the ALFED Members’ Day represents an important step in how we bring our sector together. It has been designed to create space for open, practical discussion between businesses across the aluminium value chain – focusing on the real issues companies are facing and the opportunities ahead.
“By hosting this event at our headquarters in a more informal setting, we are deliberately encouraging honest conversation and collaboration. The insights gathered here will directly shape the themes and priorities we take forward into our formal Business Briefing in September, ensuring that our wider advocacy and policy work is grounded in the lived experience of our members.”
Sophie Allen, membership account executive at ALFED, also added: “This is the perfect occasion for our members to engage with peers, explore new solutions, and gain insights that will drive their businesses forward.”
