Trivium Packaging has joined the RBC Agreement for the Metals Sector, becoming the first packaging company to do so.
International Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) agreements are multi-stakeholder partnerships in the Netherlands. Businesses, trade associations, trade unions, NGOs and the government work together through the Social and Economic Council (SER) to implement risk-based due diligence in line with international frameworks such as the OECD Guidelines.
The Metals Agreement supports companies that actively contribute to better labour and environmental conditions in the international metal sector, covering all metals and the entire international metals supply chain, including metals processing companies and end-users. After a successful first term, the Agreement kicked off a second term at the end of last year, aiming to improve the visibility of the entire supply chains in relation to human rights and environmental impacts, maximise the collective leverage of its participants, and set up collective projects that make a positive contribution to people and the environment.
Alice Bazzano, vice president of R&D and sustainability at Trivium Packaging, said: “At Trivium Packaging, we believe that sustainability extends beyond our own operations and into every stage of our value chain. Joining the Agreement for the Metals Sector reinforces our commitment to responsible business conduct, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement in addressing human rights and environmental impacts across our supply chain. We look forward to collaborating with peers and partners to help drive positive change across the metals industry.”
A full list of participants involved with the agreement can be found on the IRBC website.
