On 8 October 2026, VMI officially opened its new facility in León, Mexico,
further expanding the company’s global presence. The opening ceremony
marked an important milestone in VMI’s commitment to provide local support
for its increasing installed base.
The ribbon cutting ceremony by Mr Fonseca, subsecretary of the state, Mr Rodriguez, deputy mayor of the city of León, and Harm Voortman, CEO of VMI Group, was witnessed by customers and the local VMI team and was followed by the planting of a tree. The tree planting symbolises VMI’s commitment to sustainability, where recently VMI achieved EcoVadis Platinum status. The new facility in León is designed according to the highest standards of sustainability including waste management and energy usage.
The ceremony at the León facility followed the recent opening of VMI Japan with a new sales and support office in Yokohama, recognising the importance of the Japanese market for VMI.
Alongside the ceremony in León, VMI held a customer seminar to showcase the latest innovations in tire building and tire component preparation solutions.
“This state-of-the-art facility in León, the drum workshop and our local presence, will help us support customers in Mexico more efficiently with faster response times and enhanced levels of service,” said Harm Voortman.
