Meet me in St Louis

Last week I travelled to Missouri to visit Roeslein and Associates. The company has been operating for 25 years, and to mark the occasion CanTech has decided to run an article in order to uncover what makes it tick.

Have you heard of an integrator? Perhaps you have. But in case you’re unfamiliar it is a company that takes the hard work away from you and delivers your project on time, on budget and to your exact specifications.

It was interesting to talk to the management team about how they operate on a day-to-day basis, and to see the sheer scale of some of the projects they are working on and have already completed.

Imagine a facility so large you can actually fit the footprint of a can plant into just one portion of the space.

Over the course of my visit I learned of the pros and cons of so-called stick building versus modularisation and I have to say it opened my eyes.

My observations are that forward planning is of the essence, as a little more investment at the outset could save you a fortune in costs should you need to increase the size of your operation, and also that there is definitely something to this modularisation concept – otherwise this form would not have been trading for so long.

Look out for the story of Roeslein’s 25 years in the next issue, with a site visit piece to follow later in the year.

PS – It’s not too late to register for Euro CanTech in Barcelona next month. Email [email protected] to secure your place now.

Best,

Richard
