Can-Pack owner Frederick Giorgi dies

Frederick Giorgi, the owner of Poland-based can making group Can-Pack, died on 18 February.

Mr Giorgi, was the co-owner of F&P Holding, the sole shareholder of Can-Pack Group.

In a letter announcing his passing, the management board of Can-Pack said: “Fred – as he himself wanted to be addressed – will always be remembered as our good friend, a good businessman, someone who was courageous enough to start doing business in Poland by establishing the first joint venture almost 25 years ago when it was not such an obvious decision to invest money in Eastern Europe. His personal involvement and devotion, and also his decision to reinvest the whole earned profit in the development of the group, largely contributed to the development and success of Can-Pack Group, and to its achieving a significant position on the markets of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, and to creating over 4,000 new jobs. “

Mr Giorgi’s involvement in building the economic potential was recognised by governments of many countries. He was awarded Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland for outstanding contribution to the development of the Polish economy.

The letter continued: “His motto was: “Impossible is nothing”. He always inspired us with the aspiration to achieve seemingly unreachable goals and to strive for perfection in our actions. He shall be sadly missed. “
