Possible no-deal Brexit could hit can industry

Following the resignation of UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, the potential for a no-deal Brexit has risen, which could affect the manufacturing industry.

Research company, Statista, has predicted the manufactured goods industry, which includes the can-making industry, would be hit the hardest by a no-deal Brexit, resulting in a gross value decrease of 12% over the next 15 years.

The agriculture and foods industry would experience a loss of 11%, and this sector is likely to have high tariffs imposed upon it – expected to be almost 20%.

British Steel has already entered insolvency, partly blaming its troubles on Brexit uncertainty.
