Biodegradable can holders at Packaging Innovations

PACT2EARTH, a UK producer of compostable and biodegradable can holders is showcasing its products at Packaging Innovations, 11-12 September at Olympia London.

PACT2EARTH has developed a recyclable, compostable and biodegradable drinks can holder to replace traditional plastic rings. Its mission is to help facilitate the removal of single use plastics for packaging within the drinks industry.

Almost 700 species are now known to have been harmed by ocean plastic, and every year around 18 billion pounds of plastic flows into the ocean. Traditional plastic can rings are a common cause of harm to animals and the environment.

PACT2EARTH co-founder Matt Williams said: “PACT2EARTH was borne from a desire to make a difference in a sector that we know and operate in. Co-founder Jamie has been instrumental in the growth of craft beer from bottles to cans through his mobile canning operation. His technical knowledge and insight combined with the customers, contacts and relationships we have within the drinks industry, along with our material and applicator partners, will make a game-changing product.

“It’s really early days but very exciting as we are already working with a number of craft brewers to replace their plastic rings with our compostable alternative. The versatility combined with the water resistance of the Cygnus Eco board makes this a really exciting option for the drinks industry and the planet.”
