Crown wins at both Best in Metal and UK Packaging Awards

Crown Aerosols and Promotional Packaging was awarded this year’s MPMA Best in Metal Award for its speciality champagne pack for Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne, in the same week that the pack was crowned Metal Pack of the Year at the UK Packaging Awards.

The Best in Metal Award is selected by MPMA from shortlisted finalists in the MPMA sponsored metal’s category of the UK Packaging Awards, and this year the Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne took both crowns on consecutive nights: the Best in Metal Award announced at the association’s annual dinner following the win at the UK Packaging Awards the previous night.

The Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne pack features Crown’s ‘square to round’ tin and incorporates an innovative lid feature which holds the bottle securely in place, eliminating a requirement for further packaging.

The ‘firework’ design depicts a celebration of Champagne hillsides, houses and cellars. The surface design allows the metal substrate to shine through which set against transparent blue, bronze and golds inks, presents a celebratory and eye-catching pack.

Robert Fell, MPMA director and chief executive, said: “This is a visually stunning pack with great shelf appeal, and while the distinctive ‘square to round’ design turned heads and won awards two years ago, the new lid feature has added a further innovative dimension providing a useful feature which improves stability and reduces the need for other materials to be used.”
