Guinness 0.0 cans recalled
As a precautionary measure, Guinness is recalling cans of its Guinness 0.0 product in the UK because of a microbiological contamination during its production process.
Guinness says its team is working hard to investigate and determine the root cause of the contamination.
The beer company is working with supermarkets and other retails to remove all Guinness 0.0 stock from shelves and is asking consumers who have bought the product not to consume it and to instead return the product to its point of purchase for a full refund. Alternatively, consumers can contact the Diageo Consumer Careline on [email protected] or 0345 601 4558 with details of the purchase to receive a refund voucher before disposing of the product.
The Food Standards Agency has now completed their assessment of the contamination and published its findings. The FSA’s full assessment can be found at: www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-55-2020.
The issue is isolated to Guinness 0.0 and does not impact any other Guinness variants or brands. Guinness 0.0 is a new product manufactured in a different way from other Guinness variants.
Guinness says it is working hard to return Guinness 0.0 to shelves as soon as possible. Production will only recommence when the company is completely satisfied that it has eliminated the root cause of the issue and the product meets the highest standards of quality.
