CMbE announces factory expansion

CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMbE) has announced the addition of a 150,000 sq ft facility in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

This will increase the company’s facilities to over 298,000 sq ft, enabling expansion of its production capacity even further to keep up with increased demand. CMbE says the new unit will provide the space needed in support of its continuing machinery sales growth and will further cement its future ability to provide can makers with a full can making solution.

Named Unit 12, the facility is suited to the assembly, testing and despatch of the company’s current and future product portfolio.

Over the course of the last month a comprehensive re-fit programme started at Unit 12 that will see significant investment in infrastructure, welfare and capital equipment.

The addition will allow the business to expand its  in-house manufacturing capabilities at its current Dockfield Road and Hirstwood Works Shipley sites.

Marc Hoche, vice president and general manager at CMbE, said: “This is a truly exciting opportunity and marks a milestone in the company’s history. This significant expansion in our capacity will allow us to better serve the industry moving forward.”
