Clearly Drinks develops product line using new canning facility

Clearly Drinks has begun production on a new canning facility and one of the first products off the line will be Northumbria Spring, pure British spring water, launching in a 330ml can format.

It will be available in both still and sparkling, singles and a x6 multipack, in environmentally friendly outer packaging.

The manufacturer is able to produce 160 million cans per annum, after recently announcing a significant investment diversifying its portfolio beyond PET and glass. The investment to install the facility at Clearly Drinks builds upon growth over the last 18 months and enables the company to continue to innovate and evolve.

BW Integrated Systems has supplied the new soft drinks canning facility which is capable of producing 500 cans per minute and 30,000 cans per hour.

Mick Howard, chief executive officer at Clearly Drinks, said: “Securing this investment for our new canning facility here at our Clearly Drinks factory in Sunderland allows us to really diversify our offering and develop our product lines. The investment is an extremely agile operation, specifically designed for flexibility, giving the customer multi can size and packaging formats of choice. The machinery’s speed and efficiency will allow us to also manufacturer other contract pack products and develop further opportunities with other brands which we’ll announce in due course.”
