Ardagh wins ‘Best in Metal’ award
Ardagh Group has won the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA) ‘Best in Metal’ award for its Coca-Cola aluminium bottles.
The company’s can making division produced a limited edition, Jean Paul Gaultier designed trio of contour bottles.
The light and 100% recyclable aluminium bottles use cutting edge print technology to combine three iconic forces – the artistic might of the designer Jean Paul Gaultier; the Coca-Cola brand; and the versatility of metal packaging to create maximum impact.
The design of the packs, shaped to replicate the traditional Coca-Cola bottle contours, incorporates the reproduction of flesh tones with intricate burlesque-style attire, and such was the importance given to this aspect that the designer personally signed off the artwork.
“These packs have everything – arresting design, clever representation of a world class brand, plus metal – a world class, sustainable packaging material providing huge scope for innovation and design,” says Nick Mullen, director, MPMA.
