Frauman joins APEAL
Evelyne Frauman has been appointed quality and environment manager for the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging (APEAL).
APEAL is a federation of four multi-national producers of steel for packaging ArcelorMittal, Tata Steel Packaging, Rasselstein-ThyssenKrupp and US Steel Kosiçe. In total, these four companies employ over 200,000 workers in Europe.
Founded in 1986, APEAL represents 95 per cent of the total European production of steel for packaging. It also represents the production of up to 4.8 million tonnes of steel for packaging per year (equivalent to 42 billion steel cans).
Frauman, who has previously worked mainly in the humanitarian and development area, has office as well as field experience with waste and environmental project management with major organisations, including the European Commission.
“Steel packaging has an excellent story to tell as the environmental credentials of the material are extraordinary and unique, meeting many of the essential criteria for packaging in the sustainability conscious 21st century. I’m looking forward to further developing APEAL as the steel for packaging knowledge centre in Europe,” says Frauman.
Frauman has a Masters in bioengineering from the University of Brussels, as well as a Masters in Environmental Management from the University of Pretoria.
