Only a few weeks after its UK Packaging Awards victory, Roberts Metal Packaging has been awarded the metal packaging industry’s highest recognition – the Best in Metal Award 2024 – for its collaboration with Marc Jacobs, ‘Daisy Drops’.

Best in Metal is an annual award from the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA) to celebrate the success and innovation shown in the metal packaging industry, with the winner selected by the trade association from shortlisted finalists in the MPMA sponsored metal packaging category of the UK Packaging Awards.

Commenting on this year’s award, MPMA director and chief executive, Jason Galley, said: “The Best in Metal award is one of the highest accolades in the sector, celebrating standout metal packaging from manufacturers who are pushing the boundaries of innovation, creativity, and sustainability within the metal packaging industry.

“This year we have seen incredible design attributes from Roberts Metal Packaging with its collaborative metal perfume pack ‘Daisy Drops.’ Its strong retailer shelf-appeal and high functionality are unlike anything we have witnessed this year.

“MPMA takes great pride in presenting this annual award to honour and applaud contributions of those advancing the metal packaging industry and shaping its future.”

Roberts Metal Packaging’s compact and eye-catching Daisy Drops aluminium tins, chosen from the company’s Softline jar collection, are handbag-sized packs for perfume capsules. The tins are produced using advanced automated press lines and, with their smooth curves, light knurling, EPE liners for excellent sealability and simple but incredibly impactful design, combine both functionality and style.

“We are incredibly proud to have won both the Best in Metal award and the Metal Pack of the Year for the Marc Jacobs Daisy Drop tin,” said Chris Saunders, director of Roberts Metal Packaging.

“This stellar achievement is a testament to the hard work and innovation of our team. The Daisy Drop tin showcases our commitment to creating high-quality, sustainable packaging solutions that not only meet the demands of premium brands like Marc Jacobs but also offer standout design and functionality. It’s an honour to be part of such an iconic product’s journey.”

The Best in Metal trophy was presented by Aidan Ruddock, chair of MPMA, to Chris Saunders at the MPMA’s annual dinner at Drapers’ Hall on Friday 15 November.

At the dinner, Debbie Clements from MPMA was also honoured with a prestigious 40 Years of Service Award in recognition for her remarkable dedication and contribution to the trade association. For four decades in her role as administration manager, Debbie has been an integral part of MPMA. Her unwavering commitment, wealth of expertise, and strong leadership have left an indelible mark on the industry, earning her the deep respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike.
