Miller joins Crown’s board of directors

Crown Holdings has announced that power industry executive James Miller has been elected to the company’s board of directors. The board now has 11 members.

Miller is chairman, president and chief executive officer of PPL Corporation. He was named PPL’s chairman and CEO in 2006 having been promoted to president and elected to its board of directors a year earlier. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer and executive vice president at PPL. Miller joined PPL in 2001 as president of PPL Generation, its subsidiary that operates power plants in the US.

Earlier in his career, Miller was executive vice president having been promoted from vice president, production of USEC, an international supplier of enriched uranium to nuclear utilities. Before that he was president of two ABB subsidiaries, ABB Environmental Systems and ABB Resource Recovery Systems. Miller began his career in the power industry at the former Delmarva Power and Light Company where he held various engineering and management positions.

John Conway, chairman and chief executive officer, commented: “We are extremely pleased to have someone of Jim’s calibre join the board. Jim brings to the company his extensive general business knowledge and experience. His proven leadership abilities, business judgment and dedication will be great assets to Crown.”
