Novelis, a leading sustainable aluminium solutions provider and the world leader in aluminium rolling and recycling, has released its sustainability report for the 2025 fiscal year (April 2024, to March 2025). The report shares progress toward the company’s vision, Novelis 3×30, to advance aluminium as the material of choice with circular solutions and fulfil its purpose of Shaping a Sustainable World Together.
Novelis achieved a 10% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity in the last fiscal year (Scope 1, location-based Scope 2 & Scope 3, (category 1 and 4)), by implementing new technologies in remelt furnaces to improve efficiency, reducing fuel and energy use and increasing use of low-carbon primary aluminium inputs. Additional highlights from the report include:
- More than 84 billion used beverage cans recycled.
- 63% average recycled content across all products.
- 12% reduction in waste to landfill intensity.
- 8% reduction in water intensity.
- $8.8 million donated to the communities in which Novelis employees work and live.
Together, these achievements demonstrate meaningful progress toward Novelis’ 3×30 objectives:
- Accelerate circularity and achieve 75% average recycled content in Novelis products.
- Be the lowest emissions flat rolled products (FRP) aluminium provider with less than 3 tonnes of CO2e per tonne of FRP shipped.
- Continue to lead the industry toward circularity through first-mover investments.
“This year’s report demonstrates how we’re aligning our business strategy with circular economy principles,” said SVP and chief strategy and sustainability officer, Francisco Pires. “We firmly believe that designing out waste, keeping materials in use and lowering emissions across the value chain delivers long-term value for customers, communities and our planet.”
