Sonoco Metal Packaging EMEA made its UK debut at London Packaging Week 2025 following its acquisition of Eviosys earlier this year.
The metal packaging manufacturer showcased a range of sustainable innovations and a new Augmented Reality tool designed to revolutionise packaging development. The tool allows brands to: visualise packaging in 3D; customise colours and finishes in real time; and generate AI-powered concepts. This tool streamlines the design-to-production journey, reduces waste, and enhances customer engagement, Sonoco says.
At the show, Sonoco showcased the Ecopeel: A breakthrough three-piece can that cuts CO₂ emissions by 20%; the Horizon Overcap: A lightweight, infinitely recyclable metal overcap with 33% CO₂ reduction; and Orbit 66: A high-performance closure that reduces opening force by 50%.
Sonoco also unveiled new premium and gift packaging concepts for confectionery, spirits, tea, and more, developed in collaboration with trend agency Caramel.
Stéphane Viret, vice president of sales and marketing at Sonoco, commented: “London Packaging Week 2025 marked our official UK debut as Sonoco Metal Packaging EMEA, a standout moment in our calendar. Across the exhibition, a consistent thread came through clearly: brands are seeking packaging that delivers on sustainability without compromising design, speed to market, or consumer connection. That’s where our 2027 trend concepts, unveiled at the show, really resonated – sparking meaningful conversations about how younger consumers are reshaping expectations and how brands can respond with packaging that’s both purposeful, playful and premium.
“Our new augmented reality tool also struck a chord, showing how digital innovation is streamlining decision-making in an increasingly agile FMCG landscape. It was an honour to exhibit and the energy at the show gave us plenty of inspiration to take back into the design studio.”
