Crown Holdings has announced it has completed installation of photovoltaic solar panels at its beverage can manufacturing plant in Seville, Spain.
This move builds on the company’s ongoing commitment to achieve 100% renewable electricity across its operations by 2040.
This on-site generation also supports Crown’s progress toward its Twentyby30 targets and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments, complementing Crown’s first European Virtual Power Purchase Agreement, in operation since October 2025.
The project received support from the European Union’s NextGenerationEU Fund as part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. It was funded under the incentive programme for self-consumption from renewable energy sources, managed by Junta de Andalucía through the Andalusian Energy Agency, with participation from IDAE. As part of this initiative, Crown has been awarded €201,125.16 in public funding.
Now fully operational, the installation is expected to generate approximately 4,004,198 kWh of renewable electricity annually, equaling approximately 12% of the plant’s total electricity consumption.
