Lindal Group welcomed minister Dr Wolfgang Blank (Ministry of Economics, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) and senator Michael Berkhahn (Hanseatic City of Wismar), alongside representatives from the regional economic development authorities to its Wismar manufacturing site on 23 February 2026.
As part of its development strategy, Lindal will invest a further €17 million (£14.8 million) over the next three years to adapt the site and introduce advanced production technologies. The investment supports capacity expansion, efficiency improvements and the creation and safeguarding of skilled industrial jobs in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Located approximately 40km from Lindal’s Schönberg facility, the Wismar site benefits from strong logistical integration and proximity to existing operational structures. The facility’s established industrial infrastructure enabled an efficient ramp-up and provides a solid foundation for future growth.
In addition to its infrastructure advantages, Wismar offers access to a qualified industrial workforce and strong technical education institutions, including Wismar University of Applied Sciences, which provides expertise in mechanical engineering and plastics technology.
The Wismar facility is being developed as a flagship manufacturing site within the Lindal Group, with a strong focus on automation, high-efficiency production processes and optimised material and energy flows. By increasing vertical integration and streamlining logistics, the site contributes to improved sustainability performance and reduced CO₂ emissions.
Lindal expects the Wismar site to employ approximately 87 people overall, with additional local roles planned over the coming years. Recruitment efforts are primarily focused on the regional labour market, reinforcing the company’s long-term industrial presence in Mecklenburg-Vorpommer.
Senator Michael Berkhahn commented: “Lindal’s planned investments send a strong signal for Wismar as an industrial location. The development of high-quality manufacturing jobs and the company’s long-term commitment to the site contribute significantly to the economic strength and future prospects of our city.”
Jörg Stromeyer, plant manager at Lindal Dispenser GmbH, stated: “Wismar plays a key role in our European growth strategy. The combination of industrial infrastructure, skilled talent and strong regional cooperation allows us to further develop this site into a flagship for future-ready manufacturing. Our planned investments reflect our confidence in Wismar and our commitment to sustainable industrial development in the region.”
The visit concluded with a tour of the production areas and discussions on continued cooperation to strengthen Wismar as a competitive industrial location.
