Damm, Spain’s largest brewing group, is celebrating its 150th anniversary with Accents Color technology from Crown.
Founded in Barcelona in 1876, Damm has a portfolio of more than 25 brands present in over 130 countries worldwide.
The year 2026 marks the 150th anniversary of Catalonian beer, Estrella Damm. To celebrate this landmark moment, the brand has launched a year-long programme of celebrations that culminated in May with a large-scale music festival in Barcelona. Kicking off the anniversary celebrations, Estrella Damm has already unveiled a refreshed visual identity designed to connect with consumers around the world.
In the UK, where the brand officially opened its first brewery outside the Iberian Peninsula in Bedford, England, the Damm Eagle Brewery partnered with Crown to bring this commemorative vision to life through a striking limited-edition packaging campaign.
Using Crown’s technical expertise, Estrella Damm introduced a series of seven 440ml fully recyclable aluminum cans, each inspired by the spirit and identity of its originating city. The designs celebrate Barcelona’s most recognisable cultural and architectural symbols, from La Sagrada Familia and its distinctive urban landscape to its markets, beaches, as well as sports and cultural festivities that the brand has long supported.
Using Crown’s Accents Color technology, teams at Crown’s Peterborough facility produced mixed pallets featuring multiple design variations in a single high-speed production run, delivering cans with a high-quality finish that combines opaque and transparent inks to achieve a refined matte gloss effect. Precise colour alignment and consistent ink film weights across all visuals ensured both visual impact and print excellence, resulting in an iconic new look for one of the most sustainable beverage packaging formats available.
“Estrella Damm is a brand with an extraordinary heritage, and this anniversary deserved a packaging solution that could honour its origins while feeling contemporary and global,” said Véronique Curulla, marketing and business development director EMEA at Crown. “By combining advanced colour variations with highspeed production, we were able to translate Barcelona’s cultural richness into a series of distinctive designs at scale, while supporting Damm’s commitment to recyclable, metal packaging.”
