Every year, VMI takes on a sportive challenge to raise money for charity. This year, VMI participated in Ventoux3, the fundraising event in support of the Erasmus MC Foundation. The amount of €125,145 marks the highest total ever raised by VMI for a charity event.
Beginning early in the morning of 11 September, 66 VMI colleagues took on Mont Ventoux by road bike, mountain bike and gravel bike, as well as by running, walking and hiking. Participants climbed the legendary mountain in the South of France one, two, three and even four times, supported throughout the day by a dedicated VMI support team that helped with logistics, encouragement and care on the route.
In a statement, the company said: “It was an amazing day in beautiful surroundings with tough climbs, true teamwork and powerful emotions at the finish. Everyone gave it everything they had, and we are proud that our collective effort translates directly into support for medical research and patient care.”
Proceeds from Ventoux3 go to the Erasmus MC Foundation for groundbreaking research into new and better treatments for brain cancer, to offer patients and their environment more perspective after diagnosis.
During the evening event, VMI officially presented a cheque to the Erasmus MC Foundation.
VMI’s contribution formed part of a total of €584,391 raised by all Ventoux3 participants.
