In this year’s EcoVadis sustainability assessment, Krones has reached a new milestone in its sustainability journey. With a score of 91 out of a possible 100 points, the company improved its result for the sixth consecutive year (previous year: 80 points).

Following three consecutive Gold Medals, Krones has now advanced to the highest recognition category for the first time: Platinum. As a result, the company ranks among the top one percent of more than 150,000 companies assessed worldwide.

The most significant improvement was achieved in the Environment category, where Krones scored 96 out of 100 points, substantially exceeding the previous year’s score of 85 points. This means the company is now almost fully utilising the rating potential in this category.

“Sustainability at Krones is no longer managed exclusively from our corporate headquarters,” explained Martina Birk, head of sustainability at Krones.

“Our teams at subsidiaries and international locations are driving implementation locally, sharing experiences and jointly refining successful approaches. This close collaboration helps us establish high standards worldwide and continuously improve our ESG performance.”

According to Birk, the improved rating result is primarily attributable to the systematic integration of ESG aspects throughout the Group (ESG: Environmental, Social, and Governance). Over the past several years, Krones has continuously expanded both its sustainability organisation and the associated management tools. Today, the company has an international network of sustainability experts with clearly defined responsibilities across all regions.

“Transparency is becoming an increasingly important competitive factor for companies,” continued Birk. “By collecting our sustainability metrics in a standardized manner across the entire Group, not only do we gain a highly accurate picture of our ESG performance, but so do our customers throughout the value chain. This not only supports our internal management processes but also strengthens the trust of our stakeholders.”

Krones’ EcoVadis scorecard is currently being actively reviewed by 154 companies and incorporated into their procurement and investment decisions.

According to Krones, achieving Platinum status for the first time marks only an intermediate milestone. The reason: EcoVadis medals are awarded based on a competitive rating system. As industrial ESG programs continue to mature, securing a position among the top one percent will become increasingly challenging.

“Advancing to the Platinum category is the result of a long-term transformation process that we have pursued with great consistency,” said Uta Anders, CFO of Krones AG and, since June 2026, also responsible for sustainability.

“What particularly pleases me is that this achievement was made possible through the collective efforts of many colleagues around the world. At the same time, we do not regard this award as an endpoint, but rather as a milestone on our journey. Sustainability is a continuous process of development. Our ambition is to maintain this position over the long term and to actively help shape our industry’s transformation together with our customers and partners.”
