Sensory Analytics win top award at Metpack

US company Sensory Analytics, LLC won the Metpack Innovation Gold Award for its SpecMetrix measurement system.

At Metpack 2011, the most pioneering new products are honoured with the Metpack Innovation Award.

The Silver Award went to Swiss company Soudronic AG for its ring pull solutions for all types of peel ends and the Bronze Award went to Schuler Pressen for its ICON V Drive bodymaker.

In a ceremony held earlier this week, Frank Thorwirth, chairman and CEO of Messe Essen, Wolfgang Niemsch, co-chairman of the Metpack Committee, and Gerhard Mülleder, chairman of the Metpack Innovation Award jury, handed over the marks of distinction to representatives of the companies. Together with his jury colleagues, Gerhard Mülleder indicated that he was impressed by the high level of the candidates for the award. He said: “These results have shown that there is always potential for genuine innovations, even in production processes so far considered almost mature.”

A total of 15 companies put themselves forward as candidates for the award. The jury examined the submissions with particular attention paid to innovative exhibition items which are making a decisive contribution to reducing the costs or raising the quality during the production of metal packaging.

Metpack 2011 is the premier international fair for the metal packaging industry and is taking place at Messe Essen, Germany, until tomorrow (Saturday 14 May).
