First keynote speaker lined up for Asia CanTech 2011

Gihan Atapattu, president of Ball Asia Pacific, is the first keynote speaker confirmed for Asia CanTech Vietnam 2011.

Atapattu has been at Ball for just over a year after joining the company from SML Group (Hong Kong) where he was chief executive officer for three years.

He was responsible for leading more than 5,000 people in over 30 locations worldwide and helped establish SML in China with Chinese retailers and brands. In 2009, Atapattu led the business to a +278% improvement in net profit.

Prior to joining SML Group, Atapattu held a number of positions at Avery Dennison (Germany). These included: Division general manager, EMEA; Business unit manager, VIP Labels; Manager, marketing and e-business; Manager, finance and MIS.

He attended the University of Southern California between 1982 and 1986 and has a bachelors degree in science, and business administration and accounting.

Asia CanTech 2011 is the technical conference, exhibition and meeting point for can makers, fillers in the Asia Pacific Region and industry suppliers.

This year the event is taking place from 17-19 October at the Rex Hotel, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

All of the presentation slots have already sold out although there are still gold packages remaining. One all-inclusive fee covers the whole of the three-day event including meals, accommodation, presentations, Technical Forum and exhibition.
