Mall//herlan at Metpack
This year at Metpack in Essen, Germany, mall//herlan presented a range of new products at its stand:
For the beverage industry, the firm has launched a machine for the production of aluminium bottles. The machine can produce 500 bottles a minute using standard equipment and up to 3000 a minute when tailored equipment is in use.
For the home-care and technical products industry the firm has created an environmentally friendly DWI Mono-block Aerosol-can, a container for high-performance products at home and at work. Its DWI process makes it possible for the first time to use steel instead of aluminium.
The firm is also using a new printing process, the Polyflex M91 Hybrid, manufactured by wifag//polytype, Switzerland, on its production line for mono-block aerosol cans. Problems involving long set-up times, irregular results when employing varying speeds, or inconsistent printing-results which solely depend upon the machine’s “operator” are now alleviated, and in turn, make it possible to execute quick changes in decoration.
Mall//herlan also showcased its aluminium tubes which are produced in a continuous, non-stop process. From aluminum “slugs” – at the beginning of the production process to finished tubes including tube caps – are manufactured without pause and ready to be filled. These production lines can produce 170 or 200 aluminum tubes per min. Mall//Herlan showed a complete tube-line that is less automated and, therefore, introduces the possibility of establishing a new balance between investment and the container-cost.
Peter Ruth, CEO at mall//herlan: “Our solutions for one-piece steel-containers, our machines and our marketing concept, aligned with our 4 main markets – Beverage, Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Home Care & Technical products – hugely impressed our customers. We can rightly be proud of our work before and during the Metpack Trade Fair. Our efforts were further crowned by being awarded contracts from customers who effortlessly realised the value of what mall//herlan has to offer.”
