Stolle’s chief operating and technical officer Greg Butcher (pictured right) says the company has a new focus on innovation.

The company is opening a new innovation centre in Dayton, Ohio, US, later this year.

In an exclusive interview with CanTech International, Butcher revelaed that Stolle has a new innovation team featuring five individuals who will act as project managers. Butcher will head up the team.

The team will be divided into two groups: End metal forming and can machinery.

“We are not working on a lot of new products, just a few select ones. We want to be extremely focused to allow us to shorten the product development cycle,” says Butcher. “Our goal is to go from years to months. We already have our first four new product developments for 2012. Each of these projects has an assigned manager. Their products are clearly defined and they have been assigned a budget for this year. We expect results by the end of the year, not three to five years from now.”
