Thais Fagury has been announced as the new president of Abralatas, the association representing the aluminium can and developing its production chain in Brazil.

With nearly two decades of experience in the metal packaging sector, Fagury brings expertise in the circular economy, reverse logistics, sustainability and public policy to the organisation.

Her career includes serving as president of the Brazilian Steel Packaging Association (ABEAÇO) from 2007 to 2026 and of Prolata Reciclagem from 2012 to 2026, alongside her work with various stakeholders across the packaging and waste management value chains.

At Abralatas, the new leadership will prioritise strengthening the institutional representation of the Brazilian aluminium can industry and expanding dialogue among manufacturers, brands, retailers, recyclers and recycling workers.
Circular economy principles, decarbonisation, innovation, industrial competitiveness and the evolution of reverse logistics will be among the key topics on this agenda.

Thais Fagury commented: “I want to combine my experience with the work already being done by the organisation, broadening the dialogue with the various links in the value chain and with society at large. This will allow us to advance agendas that are strategic not only for the sector but also for the development of an increasingly circular, low-carbon economy.”
