Next stop Kuala Lumpur

It is now time for the team here at Bell Publishing to turn our attention to the next instalment of Asia CanTech, which is set to take place at the Hilton Hotel on 7-9 November 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Although there was some significant support from the industry to return to Bangkok (I wonder why!), the Hilton in Kuala Lumpur should make for an ideal facility. For those of you who came to Asia CanTech in 2008, you will recall the location by the train station, adjacent to the Meridian hotel. It’s just over 25 minutes from the airport and the hotel itself has 10 restaurants and bars, as well as an impressive pool and spa facility.

This last week has seen us secure the services of Ooi Teik Huat, Kian Joo’s group chief financial officer, and he has agreed to be the first keynote speaker at this year’s show. For those of you who don’t know him, between 2009-2012, Ooi was involved in a corporate exercise involving the acquisition of 32.9 per cent equity interest in Kian Joo Can Factory Berhad by Can-One. In July 2012, in conjunction with the acquisition, he was transferred to Kian Joo Group as its group chief financial officer, the position he holds today.

With this great news, we hope to announce our other keynote speakers in the next few weeks. Please keep abreast of www.asia-can.com for your latest news.

The CanTech team remain busy with Neil off to Panama, where no doubt he’ll be adding one of their trademark hats to his extensive collection, and Mark and I are off to the Windy City for IMDA. I’ll keep you posted on developments in Chicago. Alas, there is no time for me to get the golf clubs out of the garage.

Safe journeys if you’re out and about during the next couple of weeks.
