A key note to the future – Crown in Asia

Having already secured the services of Kian Joo and Tata Steel to present as keynote speakers at Asia CanTech 2016, Bell Publishing has announced that the new president of Crown’s Asia Pacific division, Robert H. Bourque Jr., will also be presenting at the show.
Bourque succeeds Crown’s Jozef Salaerts, who informed the company of his decision to retire in the second quarter of 2016. Bourque is based in Singapore and reports to Timothy Donahue, Crown’s president and chief executive officer.
The show is building up nicely and I’m particularly looking forward to Tata Steel’s presentation where they will be demonstrating the progress they have made on laminated steel, Protact and to learn about the opportunities for laminates in the Asian market.
Elsewhere, Ball has confirmed that the European Commission (EC) has formally approved its proposed acquisition of Rexam and thereby granted final regulatory clearance in Europe for Ball’s offer for Rexam. The EC has also formally approved Ardagh Group’s proposed acquisition of certain Ball and Rexam businesses. This should ensure that regulatory clearance in the US is now a mere formality. I’ll be covering the acquisition in a little more detail in our July/August issue in a few weeks time.
Our July/August issue will also see a feature on CanTech International’s inaugural ‘25 Most Valuable People within the can making industry’. I hope this will be something the trade can passionately debate year-on-year. I’m sure there will be some surprises in the list!
If there’s a person who merits being an ‘MVP’ then please do get in touch with me at [email protected].
Enjoy the rest of your week.
