This week, I thought I would bring to your attention the efforts of Robert Fell, director and chief executive at the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA). He will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge next month in aid of the World Land Trust (WLT).
The challenge involves a 24-mile hike climbing three of the county’s highest peaks – Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – all within 12 hours. The walk also includes 1585 metres or 5200 feet of ascents.
The World Land Trust is a conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats. The association has previously worked with the charity; in 2020, they launched a metal refillable water bottle. Proceeds from each bottle sold through the WLT website support the charity’s activities including the Plant a Tree scheme.
As the pandemic has heightened our awareness of environmental issues – the need to protect and treat the environment and wildlife more respectfully – it is a very fitting charity to support.
Fell has featured in the Q&A piece in the May issue of the magazine, so you can learn more about his efforts and also what’s going on at the association there.
In the meantime, if you would like to support him on his journey, head here: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/robert-fell3.
