See you at Metpack

There is less than one week to go until Metpack 2023 opens its doors, and the metal packaging industry is reunited at Messe Essen, for the first time since 2017.

From the USA to Essen at METPACK: The Concord Decorator from exhibitor Stolle, a printing machine for cans, is finally in place.

Exhibition area setups are underway; Messe Essen sent an update yesterday (25 April) to say that the first heavy-duty transporter delivered Stolle’s 26-tonne can decorator machine to the exhibition floor. Two special cranes, each weighing 45 tonnes, lifted the machine from the trailer and placed it on the stand “with centimetre precision,” according to show organisers. Apparently the big challenge was to distribute the weight of the cranes correctly to avoid overloading the hall floor, under which there is a parking garage.

As a newcomer to the show, I’m looking forward to seeing so much can making talent, equipment and technology showcased in one place. There is a special buzz about Metpack and I look forward to reporting on it.

We hope you’ve found CanTech International a great resource in the lead-up to the event. Myself, Neil McRitchie, Flora McRitchie and Lauren Hine will be at Stand 3B27 in Hall 3 of the exhibition area, so please come and say hello. The May edition of the magazine will be available for you to pick up, as well as April 2023 – and a tipple or two!

If you’d like to arrange a more formal interview with myself, please get in touch via my email below and I’ll be happy to accommodate.

Here’s to a great show for all.
