The post-show figures from Metpack indicate a positive experience for all and confirm the trade fair as a “trendsetter and innovation engine,” as stated by Oliver P Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen, at the Metpack press conference.

The total number of exhibitors saw a slight increase for the 2023 edition; growing from 308 in 2017 to 313 this time round. In terms of visitors, 6,500 attended the fair, with 73 per cent of them coming from abroad, demonstrating Metpack’s presence as an “international event on the highest level,” as Kuhrt expressed.

From CanTech International‘s point of view, the show was a great success. On a personal note, it was brilliant to meet so many of you whom I’ve been emailing over the past year, as well as more members of our editorial board from across the globe.

You may have also seen on our LinkedIn, but we were also able to meet the DS Group team in person and present the Asia CanTech caps/closures award from last year. Unfortunately the group could not be present for the ceremony in Bangkok in 2022, so Neil and I held our own Metpack ceremony instead, and were pleased to hand the certificate and trophy over to director, Lokesh Naidu.

Many visitors to our Metpack stand showed great interest in this year’s edition of Asia CanTech in Bangkok, and it has meant that we now only have two speaker slots left! Our early bird offer also ends on 30 May, so make sure you don’t miss out on the savings. Register here or email [email protected].

On a final note, it was also enriching to see a plethora of equipment and machinery in real life at Metpack, and it’s given me even more of an appreciation for how skilled and innovative the metal packaging industry is. Long may it continue, and roll on Metpack 2026!
