The time to innovate is now

Within a week, Ball Corporation and US-based contact manufacturer, C-Care have announced partnerships with Sweden-based Meadow to use its Kapsul technology. Meadow has been named a finalist for the ADF Concept of the Year Award at Paris Packaging Week and has been named one to watch in the refill solutions space, following the likes of Kankan and other innovators in the personal care category.

The innovation news doesn’t stop there, though. We have recently been made aware of TabUp’s easy-open technology, which sees the tab on aluminium beverage cans being bent upwards prior to shipping out to the customer.

This could be a game-changing design for many with heightened accessibility needs – TabUp’s website includes an endorsement from an arthritis patient and also a bartender, who both cite the benefits to them. Ease of opening is a definite improvement, and of course this doesn’t use any extra materials, which TabUp highlights, although further investigation is needed to determine what kind of equipment is used to bend the tabs during production.

The only other potential question mark that comes into my mind currently is whether or not the pulled up tab will affect the stackability of the cans in storage and transit. Watch this space for further details on TabUp.

In other news, we’re working on another exciting CanTech the Grand Tour announcement, so keep your eyes peeled across the event’s socials and website for that in the next few days!
