Getting out and about

I recently caught up with the deputy secretary general of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), Chris Bayliss. The institute is the global forum of the world’s aluminium producers and it was interesting to hear about its plans to tell the story of aluminium from primary production all the way through to the can makers and the fillers and beyond to the consumer.

The institute is calling on can makers to provide information that will help it tell this story. Anyone interested in providing information should contact Chris at [email protected].

In the May issue of CanTech International, there is a strong focus on Metpack 2011. The issue includes an up-to-date list of exhibitors, details of the Metpack Conference, interviews with key figures and a floorplan. Please be sure to come and say hello to us at stand C41, in Hall 1. We have also announced some exciting news about the publication in this issue and I’ll leave you to find out what it is.

As well as attending Metpack, I’ll also be in the US later this month attending the International Metal Decorators Association annual convention. This will be my first time at the event and I am looking forward to it.

Both events will provide opportunities to meet like-minded people from the metal packaging industry so I hope that everyone makes the most of them. I look forward to seeing you.
