IMDPA announces 2020 Decorators of the Year

The International Metal Decorating and Packaging Association (IMDPA) has announced its selection of Decorators of the Year for 2020. The IMDPA says that the two individuals chosen represent the true craftsmanship which our industry has grown to honour and respect. They were nominated for the award by their company’s leadership team which reflects the high regard each has within their organisation. The IMDPA, upon review of their credentials and nomination form, concurs that John Caperton of The Ohio Art Company and Bryan House, Crown Cork & Seal, are truly deserving of this recognition.
John Caperton is currently a 4 colour press operator has worked for The Ohio Art Company for seven and a half years of which four and a half have been on the press, and he worked an additional three years on various equipment. Caperton began as a stacker operator and progressed through his apprenticeship to become the crew chief and chief press operator on the 4 colour line. Caperton has reportedly been instrumental in The Ohio Art Company’s training programme for new line and press operators. He has also been key in aiding company efforts to implement a vision inspection system into the process and in developing procedures and guidelines for quality control. Many of The Ohio Art Company’s most recent Quality Awards were a result of Caperton’s talent, expertise and attention to detail.
Bryan House has 25 years of experience and is currently press supervisor at Crown Cork & Seal’s Crown Graphics Studio. House operates a pilot press using his years of experience as a former printer operator, production supervisor and quality manager to ensure that each target can produced meets the quality specifications necessary so that production plants are able to easily match the target. House works effectively in matching colours and ensuring that production can replicate them. He is reportedly extremely versatile as he repairs equipment, provides training to new pilot press operators and is involved with customer visits. House’s professionalism, attention to detail and commitment to quality are foundations for selecting him as a Decorator of the Year, says the IMDPA.
