Sun Chemical appoints new leader for metal decorating inks

Iñaki Llona (pictured right) has been appointed global business leader for Sun Chemical’s metal decorating inks business.

Sun Chemical and its parent company, DIC, are establishing a global metal decorating inks business to build on the success already achieved in this growing product area, including the integration during the last two years of the former metal decorating inks division of Valspar.

As a strong and growing area for Sun Chemical, metal decorating inks continues to provide the company with major sales opportunities in the metal packaging market.

In his new role Llona will set the strategy for further growth and will work closely with business leaders, sales teams, and technical teams across Sun Chemical’s business and will lead all the major customer initiatives and negotiations. He will be based at Sun Chemical’s site in Bilbao, Spain, which has been established as the global motherplant for metal decorating inks, including a central laboratory for global development.

He previously worked as managing director of DIC Coatings, which was integrated into Sun Chemical in 2011 and has managed Sun Chemical’s metal decorating business in Europe.
