Crown wins top Starpack award

Crown Speciality Packaging picked up the top award in the beverages category at this year’s Starpack Industry Awards.
The Starpack Industry Awards scheme is now in its 53rd year and is the UK’s premier annual awards scheme recognising innovation in packaging design and technology.
Crown won the Starpack award of excellence for its package for Octomore Comus whisky. Judges’ comments included: “A really different take on whisky packs, unusual bottle shape. Great solution bringing together multiple existing technologies/materials/formats. Both bottle and tin are decorated well, design is very modern.”
The Starpack Awards are organised by IOM Communications and endorsed by The Packaging Society, a division of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
In the same category, Crown Speciality Packaging was highly commended for its Fortnum & Mason coffee tins.
Judges’ commented: “Lovely special design cans. Very premium feel, great cap/closure. Totally homogenous range design that reflects the ‘expectations’ of Fortnum and Mason’s products. A brief delivered with an innovative twist. After use collectable possibilities.”
Ardagh’s Coca-Cola Light (Diet Coke) Jean-Paul Gaultier aluminium bottle was also highly commended.
“Lovely contour aluminium bottle, superb artwork and print. Great graphics on this iconic shape, lightweight, eye-catching and recyclable,” the judges’ said.
