Crown Holdings has achieved ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) Certifications for its manufacturing facilities in Nong Khae District, Thailand. The company produces metal cans for the food and beverage industry. Crown’s operations in Brazil and Mexico have previously achieved ASI Performance Standard certification.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) has announced that Crown Holdings has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard V2 at two of its facilities located in Nong Khae District, Thailand. Its Crown TCP facility has a production capacity of 820 million aluminium cans per year, and its Nong Khae facility produces 1.2 billion units annually.  The ASI Certification programme was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, which address key issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. The independent, third-party audit of the Crown Holdings, Inc. facilities were carried out by LiberoAssurance. The audit took place prior to May 31, 2023, thus enabling a Performance Standard V2 certification.  Fiona Solomon, chief executive officer at ASI said, “We warmly congratulate Crown Holdings, Inc. for achieving Performance Standard Certification at two of its plants in Thailand. By training employees around vital sustainability areas such as biodiversity, safety, and human rights, Crown is driving positive change within its operations. Through this latest Certification in Thailand, Crown is extending its commitment to responsible practices and we look forward to the company’s continued pursuit of ASI Certification across its global operations.“  “Achieving this ASI certification is another proof point of our dedication to maintaining reputable supply chain relationships and meeting the evolving needs of brands in the Asia Pacific market,” said Carlos Baila, president, Asia Pacific at Crown. “We are committed to operating ethically and remaining accountable to our own standards, as well as those of our partners, as we continue to serve customers around the world.”
