Ball completes acquisition of Aerocan

Ball Corporation has today (18 January) completed the purchase of Aerocan, a leading manufacturer of aluminium aerosol cans, bottles and slugs in Europe. Ball announced the acquisition in December 2010.

The deal is worth €221 million ($292m) which includes debt and other liabilities.

Aerocan manufactures extruded aluminium aerosol cans and bottles, and aluminium slugs used to make them, for customers in the personal care, pharmaceutical, beverage and food industries.

It operates three aerosol can manufacturing plants – in Velim, Czech Republic; Bellegarde, France; and Devizes, United Kingdom – and is a 51% owner of a joint venture aluminum slug plant in Beaurepaire, France. The plants employ approximately 560 people.

The acquisition, combined with Ball’s 2010 acquisition of Neuman Aluminium in the US, makes Ball a leading global supplier of aluminium slugs used to make extruded aluminium packaging.
