Canpack Group has announced its second major green field investment in Colombia, reinforcing its long-term commitment to strengthening the aluminium beverage can industry in the country and beyond. This new investment is valued at approximately US$140 million and will be located near Barranquilla, in the Caribbean part of Colombia.
Backed by a long-term agreement with a strategic customer, this state-of-the-art facility will have an installed capacity of approximately one billion aluminium can bodies per year and the production is slated to commence in the first quarter of 2027. It is anticipated that the new plant will bring around 160 high-qualified direct jobs to the Colombia Caribbean region.
“We are dedicated to the Colombian packaging industry and have been strengthening our presence in this dynamic market since opening Canpack’s first aluminium beverage can plant in Tocancipá back in 2019. We believe this new investment will give us better position to serve the increasing market demand for beverage cans not only in Colombia but also in the neighboring countries,” said Marius Croitoru, CEO of Canpack Group.
”With this investment, Canpack reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability and regional economic development, projecting a positive impact on the industry, consumers and the local labor market.” added Croitoru.
Canpack Colombia has been part of the Canpack Group since 2018, and is well recognised for its focus on business growth, customer service, innovation and numerous CSR projects.
